Production of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee has Begun at Toledo Facility

For all of you Jeep brand fans in the greater Gainesvilles, TX area and beyond, you'll be excited to know that production for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee has finally begun! After a brief one-month delay, Chrysler's Toledo facility is up and running with the plan to produce about 150 units each day. Before you know it, these new and improved models will be making their way to our Glenn Polk Autoplex showroom.

To prep the Toledo facility for production, Chrysler invested $500 towards upgrades and expanding the plant. Improved equipment and machinery has been installed, along with the addition of a 225,000 square-foot quality control center and a body shop of the same size. This will allow the automaker to reach its annual production target of 275,000 units. The plant will mostly likely reach full capacity by September with the addition of a second shift.

The enhanced 2014 Jeep Cherokee is set to replace the Jeep Liberty within the new Jeep lineup. Auto enthusiasts are already calling the Cherokee the most important vehicle that will be launched by the Chrysler Group all year.

In terms of what to expect, we are looking forward to the model's improved fuel efficiency. With its more aerodynamic design, according to the automaker it will be able to achieve about 31 miles per gallon on the highway. Zachary Leroux, manager of the Toledo Assembly Complex, recently spoke to the Detroit Free Press about the model, stating, "I think the vehicle is absolutely is as fully capable as any Jeep, it has off-road capability and has all of our latest technology. It's just as competitive as any vehicle in the market."1
